Puck vs Shadow Shaman

How this matchup plays

Trying to dodge incoming spells is central to playing Puck, but her normal defensive tricks fail against Shadow Shaman. Phase Shift is great for avoiding projectiles, but it can't preemptively dodge an instant Hex. Once Puck is caught by that, she's completely vulnerable to the full duration of Shackles and any follow-up damage. Puck thrives on outplaying her opponents with precise timing, but there's no timing involved when Shadow Shaman can simply point and click to disable her, completely bypassing her evasiveness.

This fundamental interaction forces Puck to play on the back foot for the entire game. Any aggressive Illusory Orb can be a death sentence if Shadow Shaman is waiting off-screen. This pressure often forces Puck to buy a Black King Bar much earlier than she wants, slowing down her core damage progression. Meanwhile, Shadow Shaman has a simple and effective plan: stay alive, keep a finger on his Hex key, and wait for Puck to commit. Until she can itemize against that one spell, Puck can’t dictate the pace of a fight.
