Puck vs Spectre

How this matchup plays

Trying to land a full combo on Spectre is a risky play for Puck. A significant part of that magical burst damage gets reflected back by Dispersion, making it incredibly difficult for Puck to secure a solo kill without taking heavy damage in return. It's hard to get away, too. Spectre can chase with Spectral Dagger even if Puck uses Illusory Orb to escape, and Haunt provides global vision and a gap-closer that completely neutralizes Puck's evasiveness. The very tools Puck relies on for survival are rendered ineffective.

This interaction puts Puck's entire team on a timer. They have to build an overwhelming lead and end the game early, but Spectre is one of the hardest heroes to shut down. She can give up map control to farm safely, knowing she isn't vulnerable to Puck's typical ganks. As the game goes on, Spectre's ability to initiate on a vulnerable Puck from anywhere on the map grows stronger. A successful early game for Puck can be completely undone by a single late-game Haunt.
