How this matchup plays

Picking Puck into a Venomancer often depends on your confidence in dodging key spells. Puck’s Phase Shift is a direct answer to Venomous Gale, allowing you to avoid its impact and slow. The mobility from Illusory Orb also provides an escape from the area covered by Poison Nova. However, Venomancer’s damage is persistent. Even if Puck dodges the initial spell, a single tick of poison will keep a Blink Dagger disabled for an annoyingly long time, limiting Puck's ability to re-engage. This creates a tense back-and-forth where Puck's mechanical skill is tested against the persistence of Veno's poisons.

Early on, Puck can often bully Venomancer by dodging Gale and using Waning Rift to win trades. Later, the matchup is all about initiation. If Puck can find and burst Venomancer with Dream Coil before a teamfight starts, Veno is neutralized. But if Venomancer survives to cast Poison Nova, Puck’s game becomes much harder.
