Pudge vs Venomancer

How this matchup plays

Trying to kite and apply poison as Venomancer feels awful against a Pudge. Venomancer is slow and has no real escape mechanism, so a single Meat Hook completely ruins his positioning and usually leads to death. Even if he survives the initial pull, he has no way to stop the Dismember channel. Pudge naturally builds a huge health pool and gets magic resistance from Flesh Heap, which systematically weakens every single one of Venomancer's damage-over-time spells. The poison simply doesn't do enough damage fast enough to be a threat.

Throughout the game, Pudge dictates the terms of engagement. In lane, he forces Venomancer to play passively and sacrifice farm to avoid getting hooked. In mid-game teamfights, Venomancer wants to control space with Plague Wards, but Pudge can often ignore the slow and damage to find a pickoff. Even Venomancer's ultimate, Poison Nova, isn't a reliable kill threat on Pudge, who can frequently survive the damage and re-engage. This forces the Venomancer to buy items like Force Staff much earlier than he'd like, purely for survival.
