How this matchup plays

Getting hooked by Pudge is usually bad news, but for Windranger it’s a death sentence. Her main defensive tool, Windrun, provides no protection against his magical and pure damage. Pudge can pull her out of position, slow her with Rot, and then use Dismember to finish the job, all while Windrun is active. Windranger’s low health pool means she often dies during Dismember's duration before her team can even react. She has no way to break the channel or survive the damage on her own once Pudge has her locked down.

Throughout the game, Pudge can hunt for Windranger with confidence. He doesn't need to worry about her right-clicks or her escape, so he can play aggressively. Windranger is forced to stay in the absolute back lines, relying on her team for vision and protection. She can try to get a long-range Shackleshot to stun Pudge first, but any mistake in her positioning is instantly punished. This is a stark contrast to when they’re on the same team, where their single-target pickoff abilities tend to overlap awkwardly instead of setting each other up.
