Pudge vs Winter Wyvern

How this matchup plays

Landing a big Meat Hook doesn't guarantee a kill against a Winter Wyvern, but she isn't the complete counter some players expect. Wyvern's Cold Embrace can save a hooked ally from physical follow-up, but it offers no protection from the magic damage of Dismember. This often creates a standoff where Pudge needs to immediately Dismember his target before the Embrace can be cast. If the hook lands on Winter Wyvern herself, she's usually too squishy to survive the initial burst, making her a high-priority target for Pudge. The interaction really comes down to which hero gets the jump and who they target.

Across the game, this creates a tense fight for vision and position. Pudge wants to find an angle from the trees, while Winter Wyvern has to play far back, ready to save an initiated ally. If she uses Winter's Curse on Pudge's team, Pudge himself is not a huge threat to the cursed ally since his own right-click damage is low. However, getting caught by the curse himself can be a problem. Both heroes have a way to disrupt the other's main plan, but neither has a definitive tool to shut the other down, making the outcome of their engagements very unpredictable.
