Pugna vs Tidehunter

How this matchup plays

Pressuring objectives with Nether Blast can feel free against a Tidehunter, as he lacks the mobility or waveclear to quickly respond. Pugna can take towers and control the map, forcing Tide into uncomfortable positions. In teamfights, the Nether Ward poses a serious threat to Tidehunter’s expensive Ravage, punishing him with heavy damage for casting it. On the other side, Pugna is incredibly fragile. Tidehunter's Gush strips away what little armor he has, and Kraken Shell makes him durable enough to withstand Pugna's initial burst and close the distance.

The entire game becomes a duel of positioning and initiation. A Tidehunter with a Blink Dagger can jump from fog and Ravage Pugna before he can react or place a defensive Ward. This often decides a fight on the spot. Conversely, if Pugna’s team sets up first, the Ward creates a dangerous no-go zone for Tidehunter, forcing him to either find a different angle or risk casting his ultimate. It’s a classic standoff between a fragile zone controller and a durable initiator, where whoever gets the drop on the other typically comes out ahead.
