Razor vs Skywrath Mage

How this matchup plays

Thinking Skywrath Mage can simply burst down Razor often proves to be a mistake. The entire fight revolves around distance. Skywrath has a huge advantage at range, where he can use Ancient Seal to amplify his spell damage and unload his full combo. The problem for him is that Razor's kit is built to close that gap. Storm Surge provides a passive speed boost, and a successful Static Link on a fragile hero like Skywrath is a death sentence. It drains away Razor’s main weakness—low right-click damage—while making him fast enough that Skywrath has no hope of escaping the tether.

This creates a standoff that lasts the whole game. In the laning stage, Skywrath can make Razor’s life difficult with constant spell spam. Later on, the matchup becomes about initiation and key items. If Skywrath and his team can find and silence Razor first, he’s an easy kill. But if Razor gets his Black King Bar and is able to run at Skywrath, there's very little the mage can do to stop him. The outcome of any fight between them usually depends on which hero gets to execute their game plan first, making it a very even contest.
