Rubick vs Silencer

How this matchup plays

Stealing Global Silence is the dream scenario, but it's rarely how this matchup plays out. In any skirmish, Silencer is constantly throwing out Arcane Curse and Last Word. This makes it very likely that Rubick will steal a low-impact spell instead of a game-winning ultimate from one of Silencer's teammates. On top of that, Silencer's own silence abilities can prevent Rubick from even casting Spell Steal at the critical moment, completely denying his core mechanic.

This dynamic gives Silencer an advantage from the very start of the game. He can bully Rubick in lane with Glaives of Wisdom, creating space and pressure. Later on, Rubick is forced to play very cautiously, waiting for the perfect moment that might not come. While a patient Rubick can still nab a fight-turning spell, he has to work much harder for it. Silencer consistently makes Rubick’s job more difficult, which is often enough to give his team the edge.
