Rubick vs Spirit Breaker

How this matchup plays

Getting charged from across the map is a constant threat for Rubick. Spirit Breaker excels at finding and locking down a single fragile target, and there are few heroes more fragile than the Grand Magus. Charge of Darkness provides vision and a stun that’s difficult to avoid without help. While a well-timed Telekinesis can save an ally or even yourself, Spirit Breaker’s status resistance from Bulldoze often shortens the lift's duration. The spells Rubick can steal are also not always the high-impact abilities he prefers to grab.

The laning stage and early rotations heavily favor Spirit Breaker, who can easily pick off a poorly positioned Rubick. Surviving this period requires excellent vision and defensive positioning. Later on, the dynamic shifts. In a full teamfight, Rubick can use Telekinesis to peel for his allies, lifting a charging Spirit Breaker and turning the initiation on its head. The matchup hinges on whether Spirit Breaker can successfully isolate and burst Rubick before he can use his defensive spells to swing the fight.
