Sand King vs Templar Assassin

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map and finding farm is incredibly difficult for Templar Assassin in this matchup. Her core defensive ability, Refraction, is rendered almost useless by Sand King's kit. The rapid damage ticks from Sand Storm will instantly strip away every single Refraction charge, leaving her completely exposed to follow-up damage. This single interaction makes it extremely dangerous for her to be anywhere on the map where Sand King could be lurking, stalling her game plan from the outset.

This dynamic forces Templar Assassin to alter her entire game plan. Instead of accelerating with a fast Desolator, she's often forced into an early Black King Bar just to survive initiations. A Sand King with a Blink Dagger will actively look for her in the jungle or on the map's edges, turning her typical farming patterns into death traps. In teamfights, Sand King’s primary job becomes jumping on Templar Assassin; even if he dies, removing her main defensive tool early in the fight is a huge win for his team.
