Sand King vs Tusk

How this matchup plays

Trying to set the tempo with ganks runs into problems for Tusk. His typical plan of using Snowball to get on top of a hero and burst them is often undone by Sand King's kit. A quick Burrowstrike can create distance and escape the gank entirely, while Sand Storm makes Sand King an unappealing target to stand and fight. This forces Tusk to either commit more resources than he'd like for a kill or look for plays elsewhere on the map, which usually lets Sand King farm more freely.

As the game progresses, Sand King can use this breathing room to hit his item timings for a big Epicenter. The onus is on the Tusk player to adapt. He needs to coordinate with his team, bring detection for Sand Storm, and use Ice Shards carefully to block paths or interrupt channels. A Tusk who gets an early lead by successfully ganking Sand King's allies can still control the game, but he has to work harder to shut down Sand King himself, who always has an escape plan.
