Sand King vs Void Spirit

How this matchup plays

Trying to land a Burrowstrike on Void Spirit is a frustrating experience. He can often react with Dissimilate, becoming untargetable for the duration and letting the stun fly right by. This single interaction can completely break Sand King's initiation combo, leaving him exposed after channeling Epicenter for nothing. If Sand King tries to channel in a fight, Void Spirit also has Aether Remnant to pull him out of position and interrupt the cast. These defensive tools mean Void Spirit isn't the easy blink-stun target that Sand King preys on, giving him a consistent way to defuse the threat.

Across the game, this gives Void Spirit the upper hand in direct confrontations. Sand King is forced to either bait out the defensive spells or, more likely, ignore Void Spirit and focus on his less mobile teammates. This can still work out, which is why the matchup isn't one-sided. However, a good Void Spirit will use his freedom to punish the rest of Sand King's team or even turn on him once his spells are on cooldown. Sand King's game plan is disrupted, while Void Spirit's is not.
