Shadow Shaman vs Tidehunter

How this matchup plays

Trying to lock down a Tidehunter with Shadow Shaman's spells can feel frustrating. A full channel of Shackles is a huge commitment, but Tidehunter’s Kraken Shell passive often purges the stun as soon as his teammates follow up with damage. This forces the Shadow Shaman player to rely on the instant Hex to interrupt a key spell like Ravage, but that’s a tight window. On the other hand, Tidehunter has no good way to clear Mass Serpent Ward on his own. The wards can trap him in an area and melt objectives while he’s forced to watch, unable to initiate a good fight under them.

The matchup often comes down to timing and positioning. If Shadow Shaman catches Tidehunter out of position without his team, the chain stuns might be enough for a kill before Kraken Shell triggers. In a full teamfight, Tidehunter is generally happy to absorb the initial lockdown, dispel it, and then turn the fight with Ravage. Shadow Shaman has to play carefully, either using his disables on more fragile backline targets or waiting for the perfect moment to cancel Tidehunter's ultimate. It’s a game where both heroes operate on different timers and want different things.
