Shadow Shaman vs Treant Protector

How this matchup plays

Pushing towers with Serpent Wards creates a problem that Treant Protector is ill-equipped to solve alone. The wards provide sustained damage against buildings that Living Armor can't mitigate, forcing a team response. If Treant gets caught while trying to defend or rotate, Shadow Shaman has more than enough lockdown to secure a kill. Hex and Shackles can completely prevent Treant from casting a clutch Overgrowth or saving an ally, disabling his ability to control the fight and sustain his team. It's a very direct kind of threat that puts Treant on the back foot.

The game often becomes a race for objectives. Shadow Shaman wants to group up early, use his lockdown to get a pickoff, and then drop Serpent Wards on a tower. Treant Protector's team wants to slow the game down, avoid those pickoffs, and look for a big teamfight where Overgrowth can catch multiple heroes. The pressure is on Treant to position perfectly, as getting caught first usually means losing the objective. He can still be very effective if he gets the jump, but Shaman's proactive game plan tends to set the pace.
