Timbersaw vs Tidehunter

How this matchup plays

Picking a durable offlaner into Timbersaw often means looking for someone who can ignore his sustained damage. Tidehunter fits that description perfectly. Timbersaw chips away at enemies with repeated spell casts, but Tidehunter's natural tankiness and Kraken Shell make that approach ineffective. The damage block negates a significant portion of Timbersaw's harassment, and the periodic dispel purges the stat-draining debuff from Whirling Death. This leaves Timbersaw unable to bully Tidehunter out of lane or burst him down later, effectively neutralizing his main threat against a key target.

As the game progresses, this dynamic gets worse for Timbersaw. His game plan relies on zipping around the edges of a fight with Timber Chain, but a single good Ravage locks him down completely. Once stunned, he is a sitting duck for the enemy team to focus and eliminate. This forces Timbersaw to play extremely cautiously, often waiting on the sidelines until after Ravage is used, which severely limits his impact. Tidehunter doesn't need to specifically itemize or play differently; his standard teamfight presence is a direct counter to Timbersaw's entire playstyle.
