Timbersaw vs Viper

How this matchup plays

Picking Timbersaw into a potential Viper lane is a huge risk. Viper's entire kit seems designed to dismantle him. Nethertoxin is the biggest problem, as the break it applies completely disables Reactive Armor. Without his passive, Timbersaw loses all of his signature tankiness and becomes a fragile target who melts to magic damage. Viper’s other spells pile on; the constant magic damage from Poison Attack bypasses Timber's armor, and Corrosive Skin makes Viper himself surprisingly difficult for Timbersaw to burst down, even with a full combo of spells.

This advantage starts in the lane and only gets stronger. Timbersaw can’t trade effectively or build up his stacks, forcing him into a passive, farm-focused game he doesn't want to play. Later on, his role in a teamfight becomes incredibly awkward. If he tries to Timber Chain into the enemy team, Viper can place Nethertoxin on him, silencing and breaking him on the spot. Viper Strike can then lock him down, preventing any escape. Timbersaw is forced to hang on the edges of a fight, unable to be the disruptive front-liner his team needs.
