Silencer vs Spectre

How this matchup plays

Thinking Global Silence counters Spectre is a common trap. Her damage doesn't come from active spells you can prevent. Spectre's real threat is from passives like Desolate and Dispersion, which keep working even when she's silenced. When she uses Haunt, all her illusions also apply these effects, so her damage output across a fight remains high. The silence might stop her from using a single-target dagger to chase, but it does nothing to stop her from shredding a lone target she's already on. This is the exact opposite of why they work well together, where Haunt into Global Silence is a perfect initiation.

As the game progresses, Silencer becomes one of Spectre's favorite targets. He's a fragile intelligence hero with no mobility. A Haunt guarantees Spectre can get on top of him, and without spells, Silencer has no way to fight back or escape. His team has to play perfectly around him to keep him safe, while Spectre can initiate a fight on him from anywhere on the map. Silencer's only real hope is to dominate the early and mid game with his team, ending the game before Spectre gets too strong to handle.
