How this matchup plays

Controlling Troll Warlord often comes down to timing, which is why this matchup feels so uncertain. Silencer’s Global Silence can stop Battle Trance from being cast, but it does nothing if Troll activates his ultimate first. The duel then becomes about who presses their button at the right moment. Last Word can punish Troll for casting his axes, but he can often dispel it or simply fight through the damage. A well-timed Black King Bar from Troll Warlord can also completely negate Silencer’s control, allowing him to rampage through a fight as intended.

The game often hinges on which hero gets to set the terms of engagement. In lane, Silencer can be a nuisance with his spells, potentially slowing down Troll's farm. But as the game progresses, fights become a high-stakes test of initiation and positioning. If Troll's team can get the jump and allow him to activate his BKB and ultimate, Silencer becomes a prime target and is unlikely to survive.
