Wraith King vs Templar Assassin

How this matchup plays

Picking a midlaner who relies on quick burst kills creates a serious problem when the enemy carry has two lives. Templar Assassin is built to delete a target from stealth with a Meld-empowered attack, but this entire pattern is nullified by Wraith King's Reincarnation. She expends all her resources for the first kill, only for him to respawn with his team ready to counterattack. To make matters worse, his Vampiric Spirit skeletons are perfect for chewing through her Refraction charges almost instantly, leaving her exposed to his long stun and powerful critical strikes.

This dynamic forces Templar Assassin to play a completely different game. She can’t snowball by hunting the enemy carry, as ganking Wraith King is a trap. In teamfights, she has to dedicate her damage to other targets while trying to avoid him, but he can easily initiate on her with a Blink Dagger and Wraithfire Blast. Her only real option is to split the map and hunt his more fragile teammates. Wraith King, on the other hand, can play aggressively, knowing that one of the enemy’s main damage threats is fundamentally unable to deal with him.
