Wraith King vs Venomancer

How this matchup plays

Pouring all your damage over time into Wraith King feels awful because Reincarnation effectively resets all of it. Venomancer's whole game plan is to whittle targets down with his poisons, but this is a uniquely bad way to handle a hero with a second life. When Wraith King dies, he comes back to full health and mana, completely erasing the damage from spells like Poison Nova. To make matters worse, the massive slow from Reincarnation is often a death sentence for a fragile, immobile hero like Venomancer, leaving him exposed to a follow-up stun or a few right clicks.

This dynamic forces Venomancer to try and ignore Wraith King in fights, which is a big problem when WK is running at your backline. Venomancer can't manfight and can't effectively kite, making him a prime target for Wraithfire Blast and a couple of crits. The only real plan for Venomancer's team is to burst WK's first life down instantly and then have an answer for his second. More often than not, Wraith King can simply walk at Venomancer from the mid-game onward, forcing him out of fights or killing him twice.
