Wraith King vs Void Spirit

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst down a target with a full combo is Void Spirit's entire game plan, but it's a trap against Wraith King. Reincarnation completely invalidates that all-in approach. Void Spirit uses all his spells and long cooldowns to secure what he thinks is a key kill, only for Wraith King to stand right back up at full strength. By that point, Void Spirit has nothing left to offer the fight. A simple Wraithfire Blast after the respawn is often enough to lock him down and secure a return kill, since his escape tools have already been spent.

Throughout a match, this dynamic severely limits how Void Spirit can play. He's meant to be an initiator who creates a numbers advantage, but he can't do that when the most obvious frontline target punishes him for doing his job. His only alternative is to ignore Wraith King and try to maneuver for a support kill, which is much harder and riskier. Wraith King, on the other hand, gets to play his game freely. He can walk at the enemy team without fear, knowing their primary magical burst hero is effectively neutralized against him, forcing really awkward fights.
