Slardar vs Sniper

How this matchup plays

Farming the map feels like a race, because the game often comes down to who gets their key items first. Slardar needs a Blink Dagger to get on top of Sniper, apply Corrosive Haze, and land his stun. Without it, he struggles to close the distance. Sniper's goal, on the other hand, is to maintain that distance, using Shrapnel to slow any approach and Headshot procs to interrupt a charging Slardar. If Slardar can’t get the jump, Sniper can wear him down from a safe range and control fights from the back line.

The mid-game is where the matchup is decided. A Slardar with a Blink Dagger can turn Sniper from a threat into a liability, especially at night. A successful Crush into Haze means Sniper is almost certainly dead. But if Sniper and his team have good vision and positioning, they can bait the initiation and turn on Slardar. Sniper will often build an item like a Force Staff to survive that first jump. It really comes down to which hero gets to execute their plan first, making vision and map awareness the most important factors for both sides.
