Slardar vs Void Spirit

How this matchup plays

Revealing Void Spirit with Corrosive Haze is the main goal for Slardar in this matchup. It removes some of Void Spirit's natural advantage from moving through the fog of war and makes him a priority target for physical damage dealers. This doesn't completely solve the problem of his mobility, as he can still use his spells to create distance or dodge incoming attacks and stuns. However, having vision on him prevents him from easily re-engaging or escaping into the trees, which creates a window of opportunity for Slardar's team to focus him down.

Throughout the game, this dynamic means Void Spirit has to play with more respect for Slardar's position on the map. He can't zip into the back lines as freely if there's a risk of being marked. A good Void Spirit will try to bait out the Crush or use Dissimilate to dodge the Haze projectile, forcing him to use his defensive tools preemptively. For Slardar, simply existing on the map creates pressure and can force the enemy team to invest in defensive items for their mobile core sooner than they would like, slightly slowing his tempo.
