How this matchup plays

Finding the right angle for Overgrowth is Treant Protector's entire plan against a backliner like Sniper. Using Nature's Guise, he can sneak along the edges of a fight, waiting for the perfect moment. The problem is Sniper's extreme attack range. He naturally positions so far back that Treant often has to walk through the entire enemy team to get to him. Furthermore, a well-placed Shrapnel can grant vision in the trees, potentially revealing Treant's approach and nullifying his surprise initiation before it even begins.

This dynamic creates a game of vision control. If Treant's team can secure deep wards or successfully use a Smoke, he can find the pick-off on Sniper that decides a teamfight. But if Sniper's team maintains strong defensive vision around their objectives, Treant is forced into risky, telegraphed initiations that are easy to punish. The matchup often comes down to which team better enables their hero's game plan: Treant's surprise lockdown or Sniper's safe, sustained damage from the back lines.
