Sniper vs Ursa

How this matchup plays

Trying to get on top of Sniper is a frustrating experience for Ursa. Sniper's entire kit is designed to keep melee heroes away, and Ursa has no innate way to close the distance quickly. He has to run through a field of slows from Shrapnel and Headshot procs, taking damage the whole time without being able to fight back. Ursa relies on building up Fury Swipes stacks in close combat, but he can't do that if he can't even reach his target. Sniper simply out-ranges and out-kites him at every stage of the fight.

This dynamic defines the matchup from the first gank attempt to the final teamfight. Ursa needs to invest heavily in items like a Blink Dagger to have any chance, but even then, his approach can be scouted and slowed by a well-placed Shrapnel. Sniper’s job is to stay far behind his own front line, making it a suicide mission for Ursa to charge in alone. For this to work for Ursa, his team needs to lock Sniper down first, or the Sniper has to be caught badly out of position. Otherwise, Ursa is a predictable target that gets softened up and controlled before he can become a threat.
