Spectre vs Techies

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst down Spectre with Techies' typical mine stacks and spell damage is a losing proposition. Her Dispersion reflects a portion of that damage back, punishing anyone nearby, and she is often durable enough to survive the initial blast anyway. More importantly, Techies relies on controlling areas of the map and fighting from a safe distance behind his team and traps. Spectre's Haunt completely bypasses all of this preparation, allowing her to appear directly on top of the vulnerable Techies at the start of any engagement. Once she is there, Techies has few options to get away from her relentless pursuit.

This leaves Techies with a very specific timer. He needs to create massive pressure early and help his team win the game before Spectre gets her key items. If the game goes long, the tables turn dramatically. Spectre can farm safely in dangerous areas because she can always Haunt to a fight, and she often seeks out Techies first. He can no longer split-push or set up traps aggressively without risking an instant death. A late-game Spectre is a nightmare for a Techies team, as she can tank and reflect the damage from his entire minefield.
