Storm Spirit vs Undying

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst a hero near Undying is a recipe for disaster. Each Decay cast makes Storm Spirit squishier and easier to kill in return. If Undying drops a Tombstone, the fight becomes a mess of zombies that Storm can't ignore but also can't efficiently clear while trying to do damage. He either gets bogged down and dies, or has to use all his mana to escape without a kill. Soul Rip adds another layer of frustration, often healing Storm's target right as he commits his full combo and leaving him exposed.

This dynamic defines the mid-game. Undying can force fights that Storm Spirit wants no part of, shutting down his typical snowball potential. A good Storm player will try to avoid Undying entirely, focusing on ganking isolated heroes on the other side of the map. As teams start grouping up, however, this becomes impossible. Storm is forced to wait for Tombstone to be used or for Undying to be out of position, which often means he can't initiate on his own terms and loses control of the game's tempo.
