Storm Spirit vs Ursa

How this matchup plays

Thinking Storm Spirit can kite Ursa indefinitely is a common mistake. The problem is that Storm needs to get close to do his damage and apply control, and that's exactly where Ursa wants him. If Storm commits with Electric Vortex, Ursa can use Enrage to reduce the disable's duration and survive the initial magic burst. From there, it only takes a few hits with Fury Swipes to completely turn the fight around. Storm has to be extremely careful with his mana, because one small miscalculation means Ursa gets on top of him and he can’t escape.

This tension plays out across the entire game once Ursa gets his key items. He can use a Blink Dagger to close the gap instantly, forcing Storm Spirit to play reactively. The game becomes about who gets the jump. Ursa will look for a pickoff with an item like Abyssal Blade to lock Storm down. In response, Storm will try to bait out Enrage and then escape with Ball Lightning to re-engage later when Ursa is vulnerable. The winner is usually the one who gets the better initiation, which is why these games can feel so unpredictable.
