Techies vs Troll Warlord

How this matchup plays

Trying to run at a backline hero during Battle Trance is where Troll Warlord feels the pain. A committed, all-in hero like him relies on being able to stick to a target and hit them without interruption. Techies' entire kit is designed to prevent exactly that. A Sticky Bomb slows him down, a well-placed minefield blocks his path, and a Reactive Tazer can disarm him for the entire duration of his ultimate if he's not careful. The control that Techies provides makes it incredibly difficult for Troll to get his fight started, turning his big ultimate moment into a frustrating scramble.

This dynamic forces Troll Warlord to adapt his item build and playstyle. He often has to rush a Black King Bar to have any hope of fighting effectively, which can delay his core damage items. Even with a BKB, Techies can play defensively, baiting the activation and then using Blast Off! to create space until it expires. For Troll to succeed, his team needs to provide excellent vision to find and kill Techies before a fight, or he needs to get a perfect jump where he can burst a key target before the disruption begins.
