Tidehunter vs Windranger

How this matchup plays

Picking a slippery, single-target hero like Windranger against a Tidehunter often feels like you're trying to solve the wrong problem. Her entire game plan revolves around kiting and control, but Kraken Shell makes it incredibly difficult to lock Tidehunter down. He consistently shrugs off the slows and stuns she needs to land a good Shackleshot or set up Focus Fire. Even if she does find an opening, her physical ultimate damage is heavily mitigated by his natural tankiness and high armor. Windrun's evasion also offers no protection from Gush or the inevitable Ravage, leaving her with few reliable defensive options against him.

This dynamic means Tidehunter is a target Windranger cannot deal with alone at any stage. He can ignore her harass in lane and secure his farm. Later on, his primary goal in a teamfight is to initiate, and her preferred positioning on the outskirts makes her a prime target for Ravage. Once caught, she's finished. The Windranger is forced to play from extreme range and hope her team can peel, while the Tidehunter player has a very straightforward plan to run at the enemy team and press his ultimate.
