Treant Protector vs Venomancer

How this matchup plays

Sustaining through Venomancer's constant poison is much more manageable when Treant Protector is on the other team. Living Armor's damage block absorbs a good chunk of the harass from spells and wards, making the laning phase far less miserable than it could be. The trade-off is that Venomancer’s Plague Wards are a direct answer to Treant's entire game plan. A well-placed set of wards can provide vision all around the lane and in the trees, making it extremely difficult for Treant to hide, de-ward, or set up ganks without being seen.

This dynamic creates a standoff. In teamfights, Treant Protector wants to find an angle to land a big Overgrowth, but he’s often scouted out by wards long before he gets in position. This forces him to play more predictably or risk getting caught. Meanwhile, Venomancer can’t rely on his poison to wear people down as effectively because of the constant global heal and protection. The fight often comes down to who gets the jump. A surprise Overgrowth can neutralize Veno, but a well-positioned Venomancer who sees Treant coming can slow the whole team and turn the fight with Poison Nova.
