How this matchup plays

Saving an ally from an Ursa charge often comes down to a perfectly timed Snowball or a well-placed wall of Ice Shards. Tusk has the tools to disrupt and kite Ursa, preventing him from building up Fury Swipes on a single target. However, if Ursa gets the jump first, his initial burst from Overpower can be too fast for Tusk to react. Ursa's Enrage also provides a crucial dispel for Walrus Punch, meaning Tusk can't reliably lock him down by himself. The fight is typically decided by who catches whom out of position first.

This tension makes early ganks and Roshan attempts the key battlegrounds. Tusk excels at scouting and contesting the pit, while Ursa needs that early Aegis to accelerate his game. Later on, teamfights revolve around the same core dynamic. Ursa's team will try to find an isolated pick-off for him to burst down, while Tusk's team plays to counter-initiate and protect their backline. Neither hero fundamentally shuts the other down, so victory usually goes to the team that better enables their hero's specific game plan.
