Undying vs Venomancer

How this matchup plays

Trying to wear down an opponent with poison feels awful when they're stealing your strength with every Decay cast. The whole game plan for Venomancer is to kite and apply damage over time, but Undying's kit directly counters this. Tombstone zombies are the biggest problem; Venomancer has no effective way to clear them, and each zombie that hits him makes it even harder to escape. Soul Rip provides a burst of healing that can negate much of Veno's sustained damage, saving a target that should have died to poison. It's a matchup where one hero's core strength directly invalidates the other's.

This dynamic forces the Venomancer to play from a huge distance, unable to place aggressive Plague Wards or set up a good Poison Nova. You become completely reliant on teammates to solve the Tombstone problem for you. Undying, meanwhile, plays with total confidence, knowing he can run at Venomancer to force him out of a fight or drop a Tombstone right on his head. Veno's only real counterplay is to stay so far back that his impact is minimal until the zombies are gone, which is exactly what the Undying wants.
