Vengeful Spirit vs Windranger

How this matchup plays

Picking Windranger often means accepting that Vengeful Spirit is a direct answer to your game plan. Windranger relies on Windrun to survive, making her untouchable by physical attackers while she repositions. Vengeful Spirit's Nether Swap completely ignores this, pulling Windranger out of a safe spot and into the middle of the fight regardless of her evasion or movement speed. On top of that, Magic Missile provides a reliable, targeted stun that is very difficult to dodge, locking her down before she even has a chance to activate her escape.

Throughout the game, this dynamic forces the Windranger player to be extremely cautious. Any aggressive positioning or split-pushing becomes a huge risk, as a single Nether Swap from out of vision means certain death. This forces Windranger to rush defensive items like a Linken's Sphere or BKB, delaying her damage and slowing down her impact. Vengeful Spirit, by contrast, can play a fairly standard game. She needs only to stay with her team, ready to trade her life to eliminate the enemy's most slippery hero.
