Viper vs Void Spirit

How this matchup plays

Trying to bully the lane with Viper's poison feels natural against most melee heroes, but Void Spirit has answers. While Nethertoxin and corrosive slows should pin him down, Void Spirit can often escape the worst of it. Dissimilate allows him to dodge spells and reposition inside the toxic zone, and his ultimate, Astral Step, provides a reliable escape even when heavily slowed. This forces Viper to play carefully, as Void Spirit can turn and burst him with his own combo if he missteps.

Later on, teamfights revolve around this same tension. A well-placed Viper Strike can set up an easy kill on Void Spirit, as even he struggles to escape from that much slow if the team follows up. However, Void Spirit is constantly looking for an angle to jump the backline. If he can get on top of Viper before the slows and damage over time stack up, his burst is often enough to eliminate the threat entirely. The outcome really depends on which hero gets the jump and executes their plan first.
