Viper vs Winter Wyvern

How this matchup plays

Trying to save an ally with Cold Embrace against Viper is often a losing battle. His corrosive damage ticks through the heal, meaning the target's health bar barely moves. The physical immunity part of the spell still works, which can be enough to prevent a death from right-clicks, but it makes the save far less reliable. Against a hero who melts targets with damage-over-time, one of Winter Wyvern's key abilities becomes significantly weaker, turning a guaranteed save into a risky gamble.

On the other hand, Winter Wyvern has excellent tools to deal with Viper’s general game plan. Viper wants to pick a target and run at them, but Arctic Burn allows Wyvern to kite him from a massive distance. Her ultimate, Winter’s Curse, is also a clean answer to a single-target carry trying to focus someone down. The matchup depends on who gets the jump. If Viper gets on a core, Wyvern’s save is weak, but if Wyvern catches Viper out of position, he has no way to escape.
