Warlock vs Windranger

How this matchup plays

Trying to lock down a slippery hero like Windranger can be difficult, but Warlock has the right tools for it. Upheaval’s persistent slow is a nightmare for her, pinning her in place even if she activates Windrun. This makes her a much easier target for the rest of Warlock’s team. If she gets caught, a good Fatal Bonds means that focusing her down also melts her nearby allies, punishing them for grouping up to protect her. Warlock's Chaotic Offering can also land its initial stun through her evasion, breaking her positioning and preventing her from using Focus Fire.

The matchup often hinges on who gets to dictate the pace of the fight. Windranger’s plan is to find a quick pickoff with Shackleshot before the big teamfight spells come out; she can often kill Warlock before he gets his ultimate off. Warlock, on the other hand, wants to slow the game down and force a five-on-five engagement where his area-of-effect spells can control the entire battlefield. Since his spells make it so dangerous for Windranger’s team to play around her, he tends to have a slight advantage in setting up the fight he wants.
