Weaver vs Winter Wyvern

How this matchup plays

Locking down a slippery Weaver with Winter's Curse seems like a solid plan, but the matchup is more complicated than that. While Curse can force Weaver's own team to kill him, a well-timed Time Lapse can completely negate the damage taken. It creates a tense standoff where both ultimates are direct answers to each other. Similarly, Winter Wyvern can save a teammate from Weaver's burst with Cold Embrace, but Weaver is mobile enough with Shukuchi to simply reposition and wait for the buff to expire. Neither hero has a tool that the other can't play around.

Throughout the game, teamfights often hinge on who makes the first mistake. If Winter Wyvern can land her ultimate on Weaver while he's already stunned, he won't be able to cast Time Lapse and will probably die. Conversely, if Weaver can bait out the Curse and survive, or if Wyvern uses Cold Embrace on the wrong target, the bug gets a huge window to tear through the back lines. It forces both players to be patient and wait for the perfect moment, meaning the outcome of any given fight can easily go either way depending on execution.
