Abaddon + Bristleback

Why this works

Trying to control a Bristleback is the main way to deal with him, but Abaddon's Aphotic Shield can make that difficult. The strong dispel from the shield removes stuns and other lockdown, letting Bristleback keep running at the enemy team and casting his spells. This forces opponents to either commit multiple control spells to a single target or switch focus entirely, which can disrupt their teamfight plan. Abaddon can also use Mist Coil to help sustain Bristleback from a safe distance as he dives deep.

The shared game plan of these two heroes is also their biggest weakness. Both want to be in the middle of the fight, offering little in terms of ranged damage or initiation. An enemy team with good kiting or heavy area-of-effect damage can often ignore the pair and pick off more vulnerable targets. The success of this duo depends on the enemy team trying to focus down Bristleback with the kind of single-target disables that Abaddon excels at removing, which isn't always how fights unfold.
