Abaddon is a durable support/core whose Aphotic Shield blocks and dispels, Mist Coil heals or harms, and Borrowed Time turns lethal damage into healing. He grinds down immobile heroes who can't burst through his sustain: Timbersaw, Tinker and Mars lose the war of attrition. Abaddon is countered by heroes that out-trade his healing or punish his melee range: Dawnbreaker, Dark Seer and Enchantress out-sustain or out-tempo him, while Meepo overwhelms. He pairs best with dive initiators and hard-carries: Axe is a classic combo (Shield him through a Blink-Call), while Spectre and Wraith King appreciate the shield + heal that lets them dive fearlessly.
