Abaddon + Crystal Maiden

Why this works

Channeling a full Freezing Field in a chaotic fight is often a fantasy for Crystal Maiden, but Abaddon makes it a reality. His Aphotic Shield can absorb the initial burst of damage and, more importantly, dispel a stun that would otherwise interrupt the ultimate. This protection allows the Maiden to commit to her most powerful spell without being instantly punished. In return, Arcane Aura provides a constant stream of mana that lets Abaddon use his own heals and shields more liberally, especially during the laning stage or prolonged sieges where resources run thin.

This pairing creates a dilemma for the enemy team from the mid-game onward. Focusing Crystal Maiden requires chewing through Aphotic Shield, which often takes too long. Trying to ignore her to kill other targets means taking massive damage from her ultimate. The most common response is to try and burst Abaddon first, but triggering an early Borrowed Time can turn the fight by healing up his whole team. It forces opponents to have specific, coordinated lockdown or risk getting ground down by the sustained control and damage.
