Abaddon + Hoodwink

Why this works

Facing this duo can be frustrating, since both heroes are very difficult to pin down and finish off. Hoodwink has Scurry to slip away through the trees, while Abaddon has Borrowed Time to turn around any gank attempt. This defensive layering makes them resilient. The issue is that their offensive plans don't overlap well. Hoodwink wants to control enemies from a distance with Bushwhack, setting up kills from the treeline. Abaddon, on the other hand, wants to be in the middle of the fight, applying Curse of Avernus and drawing attention. They often end up playing in separate zones, which limits their combined impact.

This disconnect plays out across the game. During the laning phase, they can survive aggression but often lack the damage to secure kills themselves. Later on, the lineup can feel passive, waiting for the enemy to make the first move. While an Aphotic Shield is great for saving a focused Hoodwink, the pair struggles to create its own openings. Their success often depends on whether the enemy team overcommits, rather than on their own proactive plays. Against a disciplined team that controls the map, they can find it hard to establish tempo on their own terms.
