Abaddon + Slark

Why this works

Applying Aphotic Shield to a diving Slark gives him an extra dispel and damage barrier, letting him commit more aggressively. This allows Slark to absorb a stun or initial burst without needing to immediately use Dark Pact or disengage with Shadow Dance. It makes him much harder to pin down and kill when he's looking for pickoffs. Abaddon's ultimate, Borrowed Time, adds another layer of security. If Abaddon is nearby when Slark gets focused, the resulting heal can punish enemies for overcommitting to the kill attempt, often turning a gank around entirely.

This duo's game plan revolves around enabling Slark to snowball. The strategy is straightforward but can be predictable. If the enemy team has enough coordinated burst to break through the shield instantly, or if they can effectively kite both heroes, the synergy falters. Opponents can also choose to ignore the hard-to-kill pair and focus down their more vulnerable teammates instead. The success of this combination often hinges entirely on whether Slark can get and stay ahead, making the overall outcome dependent on how well that single game plan is executed.
