Abaddon + Vengeful Spirit

Why this works

Trying to burst down Vengeful Spirit first is often a mistake, and Abaddon makes it even harder to do correctly. Vengeful Spirit is a hero who doesn't mind dying to get her powerful illusion out. When you add Abaddon to the mix, any attempt to focus her is met with Aphotic Shield to dispel stuns and Mist Coil for sustain. If the enemy team switches focus to Abaddon instead, they risk triggering Borrowed Time while Vengeful Spirit remains free. Nether Swap can also be used defensively to save Abaddon if he gets caught, creating a frustrating shell game for opponents trying to secure a key kill.

This dynamic means the pair can play aggressively together from the laning stage onward. In teamfights, opponents face an ugly choice: commit everything to killing Vengeful Spirit through Abaddon’s protection, or try to bring down Abaddon himself and let Vengeful Spirit and her illusion wreak havoc. Neither option is efficient. While heavy, coordinated burst can still overwhelm them, the constant defensive support from both heroes often forces enemies into bad trades and awkward positioning. This gives their lineup a consistent, if not overwhelming, advantage.
