Abaddon + Viper

Why this works

Trying to burst down a Viper who refuses to die can feel impossible. Abaddon enables this by layering his defensive abilities onto Viper, making an already durable hero that much tougher. Aphotic Shield absorbs incoming damage and can remove slows or silences that would otherwise let a target escape. This lets Viper stay on top of his prey, continuously applying his corrosive poisons. If the enemy team does manage to commit enough resources to threaten Viper, Abaddon's Mist Coil provides a direct heal, and his ultimate, Borrowed Time, can turn a gank around completely by drawing focus onto himself.

The success of this pairing often comes down to timing and enemy composition. In mid-game skirmishes, a shielded Viper running at the enemy team is a huge problem. However, both heroes lack reliable, hard stuns. A mobile enemy lineup can often kite them, and a team with multiple stuns can lock Viper down regardless of Abaddon's shields. The duo excels at drawn-out fights where Viper's damage-over-time and Abaddon's sustain can wear opponents down, but they struggle to secure quick kills or control enemies who can simply disengage.
