Abaddon + Weaver

Why this works

Pairing a defensive hero like Abaddon with an elusive core seems solid on paper. The thinking is that Aphotic Shield can save Weaver from a stun, letting him escape with Shukuchi or use Time Lapse. The problem is that both heroes bring a similar kind of survivability to the table. Weaver is already incredibly hard to kill because of his built-in escape mechanisms. Abaddon's greatest value comes from saving allies who get caught, but Weaver's entire kit is designed to avoid that specific scenario. This overlap means the powerful defensive utility from Abaddon is often redundant.

In practice, the lane can feel a bit passive. Abaddon doesn't provide the lockdown Weaver needs to secure early kills and snowball. Later on, while an Aphotic Shield dispel can certainly be clutch, enemy teams can often play around it. If they can't burst Weaver through the shield, they'll simply switch focus to Abaddon or another teammate. The duo can struggle to initiate or control teamfights, as they're both more focused on reacting to damage than proactively setting up kills. You end up with a lot of defensive power on one hero, but it doesn't always translate into winning the game.
