Abaddon + Windranger

Why this works

Pairing these two heroes often comes down to deciding if you want insurance or a real offensive threat. Abaddon provides a safety net with Aphotic Shield, allowing Windranger to play more aggressively for a deep Shackleshot without being immediately punished by a stun. The dispel is genuinely useful. Likewise, an early Curse of Avernus on a target can help Windranger stick to them during Focus Fire. The issue is that a good Windranger player is already using Windrun to stay safe, so Abaddon’s protection can sometimes feel like a backup plan rather than a core part of the strategy.

As fights break out, their goals can diverge. Abaddon wants to be in the center of the action, drawing fire and healing allies when Borrowed Time triggers. Windranger, on the other hand, is usually positioned on the fringe, looking for the perfect angle or waiting for a key enemy to be out of position. If she gets a good start and can execute her pickoff plan, the duo feels fine. But if the enemy team groups up and pressures her, Abaddon can only offer a reactive save. He doesn't provide the hard initiation or lockdown that really sets Windranger up for success.
