Alchemist + Medusa

Why this works

Giving Medusa an early Aghanim's Scepter is the entire basis for this pairing. Alchemist can accelerate his farm and deliver the item, which turns her Mystic Snake into a bouncing petrify that provides long-range lockdown. In theory, this gives Medusa a huge utility spike much earlier than she could farm it herself, allowing her to contribute more control to mid-game fights. The goal is to bring a piece of her late-game power online early, buying time for her to build the actual damage and stat items she needs to carry.

The problem is that both Alchemist and Medusa are two of the most farm-dependent heroes in the game. Dedicating two core roles to such greedy heroes puts immense pressure on your other three teammates to create space and defend towers with very few resources. An aware enemy team will simply group up and run at you, knowing that your cores are not ready to fight. If your team can't withstand that early pressure, the game is often over before the strategy has a chance to pay off. It’s a high-risk plan that requires the enemy to give you a lot of respect and space to work.
