Why this works

Handing an early Aghanim's Scepter to Spectre completely changes her contribution to the mid-game. Alchemist's ability to farm lets him deliver this item at a timing the enemy team rarely expects, allowing Spectre to join fights with Shadow Step without committing her full Haunt ultimate. Instead of farming passively, she can be an active participant in ganks, turning skirmishes in her team's favor from anywhere on the map. This helps her get the gold she needs for her own core items without having to rely entirely on quiet farm.

The entire strategy hinges on Alchemist being able to secure the farm for that initial Scepter gift. The opposing team's goal is to disrupt Alchemist or repeatedly kill Spectre to make the Scepter timing irrelevant. If the pair can navigate the early game safely, they create a difficult problem. Spectre's early activity generates space and map control, allowing Alchemist to continue farming and accelerating the whole team's item progression into the late game, where Spectre naturally thrives.
